When we talk about yield, we talk about the furfural that theoretically could be made from a 100% pentosan conversion.
100% yield = 72.72 lb of FF from 100 lb Pentosan 60% yield = 43.63 lb of FF from 100 lb Pentosan
Pentosan + water -----> pentose (C5H8O4)n + nH2O -----> nC5H10O5 Pentose -----> water + furfural C5H10O5 -----> C5H4O2 + 3H2O Pentosan Content (PC) is expressed as % of dry matter, when we talk about 30% PC, we mean 30 lb of Pentosan in 100 lb of dry matter. |
